More About Still

Designed on the premise that different types of meditation suit different types of individuals, and that identifying the best-suited type of practice greatly improves one’s results, Still introduces 40 cognitive meditations adapted from the 9th-century AD Kashmiri text, The God Who Is Consciousness — Vijnana Bhairava (Tantra).
From the great variety of meditations that the Vijñānabhairava teaches, 23 types have been extracted by integrating three cognitive steps with nine physical or mental categories used for specific practices.
The three steps assemble into a distinct procedure: developing one-pointed concentration on a specific object, absorbing in it, and then letting it go—leading to a state referred to here as "waveless awareness," which is one-pointed absorption in objectlessness. This state greatly improves mental well-being and, unlike the intellect or the senses, is argued to be a more effective instrument for realizing the true nature of reality. While each meditation focuses on one or two of these three steps, all lead to the same result. In Still, these steps are named respectively: Individual, Empowered, and Waveless.
Together with the nine categories mentioned above, which are:
The breath
Sight
Sound
Touch
Knowledge — cognitive, intellectual, and spiritual
Will — individual and universal
Emotion
The bliss of aesthetic delight, intimacy, good food, and the like
Conviction
These 23 types of meditation are suited to 23 cognitive yoga mental types of individuality, forming combinations such as Empowered Sight, Waveless Will, Individual Sound, etc.
To find out which type of meditation suits a specific individual, in Trail — the heart of Still — all 40 meditations are paired, and the practitioner consecutively practices both. The one that fits better—whether by the practitioner’s judgment or using external tools like an EEG—moves forward to the next round. In this way, at the end of each trail, only one meditation remains. That meditation reveals the type it belongs to, so the practitioner now knows which type of practice they should focus on.
After completing the trail for the first time, another option is unlocked: the Composed Trail. In this mode, the practitioner can create their own shorter trails based on their favorite practices, and through the same process of elimination, further improve their understanding of their mental inclinations.
Drawing from ancient meditative wisdom, Still provides a personalized journey that helps practitioners uncover their ideal meditation practice, enhancing mental well-being and self-awareness through gradual exploration.
